Iberian Interlude May 2008

We Have only cruised twice, both times on the Sea Princess, and the Iberian Interlude. The first time we went with friends and had a great time, when we went to book again for this year the only week in May was sailing on my wifes birthday so we decided that it was fate that we went. As it turned out due to the french blockading ports we had a different itinery.Instead of going to La Rochelle and Brest we went to BilBao and Gurensey.   We missed going to La Rochelle but had a good walk round Las Arenes and crossing the river  to Portugalete (which cost 30 cent) using the Puente colgante de Portugalete, for the more adventuours you can pay a bit more and walk across the top. We only had a short time ashore in Gurnesey due to it being a bit foggy which slowed the tender service down, but we wanted to try the tender out as my wife is a wheelchair user and we had never been ashore by tender before. Ther was no need to worry as with everytime we left the ship there was plenty of staff on hand to help the people with walking difficulties and in wheelchairs to board the tenders, it has to be said that the staff that get wheelchairs up and down the gangways in the ports do a fantastic job and is one of the reasons we would cruise rather than fly.We had another fantastic time on the Iberian peninsula thanks to Princess cruises and Idea cruising the ship and her staff are just great and the staff at Ideal are always cheerful and helpful.
